Tour description

This tour is an acquaintance with the soul of northern Armenia and its cultural capital - Gyumri. A city with a special character, subtle humor and a multi-layered history, which is felt from the first minutes.

Gyumri is one of the oldest cities in Armenia. In different eras it was known as Kumairi, Alexandropol, Leninakan, and only during the period of the country's independence did it regain its historical name - Gyumri. Each name has left its mark on the appearance of the city, its architecture and culture, forming a unique atmosphere.

Our day begins with a visit to the Cathedral of the Holy Virgin - one of the main spiritual symbols of Gyumri, reflecting the steadfastness and faith of the city.

Next, we are heading to the Black Fortress, a powerful defensive structure of the XIX century, built of black volcanic stone. The fortress offers panoramic views of the city and its surroundings, and it itself reminds of the strategic importance of Gyumri in different historical periods.

The next stop is the monument "Mother Armenia", a symbol of protection, strength and endurance of the Armenian people.

After that, we will have a walk around the Old Gyumri - through the blocks with houses made of black and red tuff, cozy courtyards and the atmosphere of the last century. Here the city is truly revealed - lively, sincere and warm.

We complete the route in the Arichavank Monastery - an ancient monastery complex located on a hill among the spacious plains. Its silence and panoramic views create a feeling of peace and harmonious completion of the journey.

This tour is suitable for those who want to see the real Gyumri and northern Armenia - without haste, clichés and superficial glance.
