Tour description
This tour is a journey through the most ancient and symbolic places of Armenia, where faith, science and human life are closely intertwined with nature and stone.
Our day begins with a visit to Khor Virapa, one of the most iconic monasteries in the country, located at the foot of the biblical Mount Ararat. It was here that Gregory the Enlightenment was imprisoned in a deep dungeon for 13 years before Christianity became the state religion of Armenia. The view of Ararat makes this place truly unforgettable.
Next, we go to Karaunj - one of the most mysterious monuments of antiquity, known as "Mighty Stones". This stone complex is thousands of years old and, according to many researchers, served as an ancient observatory. Stone steles with holes are oriented to celestial bodies and still cause controversy among scientists about the knowledge of ancient civilizations.
Continuing our way south, we arrive in Khndzoresk, a unique cave city where people lived in the rocks back in the 19th and 20th centuries. Today, an impressive suspension bridge leads here, thrown over the gorge, which in itself becomes a bright adventure and a point with breathtaking views.
A walk through the cave Khndzorescu allows you to see what life carved in stone looked like: residential caves, utility rooms and paths connecting different levels of rocks.
This tour is suitable for those who want to touch the most ancient pages of the history of Armenia in one day, feel the scale of time and see nature in its pristine power.
